With your support, we've flown 16 flights, carrying over 1,800 pets to safety from the devastating hurricanes in Texas and Florida. They're now in the care of our shelter partners around the country and many have already been adopted into loving families—many would not have survived without these flights. Now Puerto Rico needs your help.
Hurricane Maria made landfall in Puerto Rico as a Category 4 hurricane on September 20, completely destroying much of the island's infrastructure and leaving it without electricity for what could be months. The government has declared a state of emergency and desperately needs supplies and assistance for people and pets affected by the storm. FreeKibble Flights to Freedom and GreaterGood.org's Rescue Bank are working with Wings of Rescue on some of our most important flights yet—we are operating daily flights to bring in critically needed humanitarian supplies, and when we leave, we are taking a plane full of abandoned pets back to the U.S. mainland to be adopted.
We need your help to make these flights happen. We need you to save the lives of the dogs and cats that were affected by Hurricane Maria by flying them to shelters where they'll be adopted. This will also make room for the huge amount of pets displaced by the storms...with the goal of reuniting them with their families and give relief to the shelters, many of which have damage, no power and limited supplies at this time. And, these flights give twice by bringing in much needed supplies for people affected by the storms.
You can help! Just $5 helps cover the fuel costs of flying a pet 125 miles towards safety.
Three of the 1,800 dogs and cats saved from the storms and flown to safety!
In shelters across the country, highly adoptable dogs & cats are euthanized just because the shelters are overcrowded. In other areas, shelters have a shortage of adoptable pets. Freekibble Flights to Freedom works with Wings of Rescue to save homeless pets by flying them to shelters where they're immediately adopted.
Wings of Rescue's mission is to fly rescue animals in overpopulated shelters to a network of no-kill shelters from which they will be quickly adopted into loving homes. Last year alone Wings of Rescue transported nearly 10,000 pets to no-kill shelters who likely would have been euthanized within the next 48 hours. The average length of stay in these new shelters for these pets was less than 3 1/2 days before they were adopted. Wings of Rescue is in urgent need of your support to maintain their operations. With your help these animals can have a second chance at life and find their forever and loving homes!
Our partner, Halo Pets will be donating 10,000 bowls of their high quality food to the shelters receiving the animals.
