July 24th - 30th is National Feed a Rescue Pet WeekHelp us meet our goal to provide 3 million meals to hungry rescue pets around the country! When you #Give10, YOU provide 400 meals to an animal in need.
One of the biggest expenses for shelters and rescue groups is feeding animals in their care. For many rescues, after food costs they have little or nothing left in their budget for medical treatment, vaccines, or other adoption programs. That's where GreaterGood's Rescue Bank program comes in—we ship donated food to rescue groups around the country to make sure their animals are fed, and that they have extra money in their budget to help pets in desperate need—pets like Pluto.
When Pluto was abandoned at Born Free Pet Shelter in Southern Florida, his back legs were paralyzed. He had to drag the rear half of his body across the ground, and people said he would never walk again. However, Alicia, the shelter director, didn't want to give up on Pluto. Luckily, the shelter saves about $3000 monthly thanks to Rescue Bank food donations, and Alicia was able to use that savings on a special treatment for Pluto, giving him his legs back. This miracle would not have been possible without your support.
